Abstract/Summary

The report details the Archaeological Evaluation conducted at West Malling Abbey, Kent in September-October 2015. Taken from the report:"Executive summary: Five small archaeological test pits were dug at West Malling Abbey, Kent (site centre NGR TQ6821257695) in September-October 2015. Alluvial deposits were found in most of the pits, with some possible evidence for re-working by cultivation at an unknown time in the past. A post-medieval well or soakaway was found in pit 2 to the south-west of the guesthouse, and post-medieval metalled yard surfaces were found between the latter building and the West Range of the Abbey. Small amounts of residual medieval pottery were recovered, along with post-medieval pottery, tile and brick."
