Full Description

WWII military complex located on the coast between Botany Bay and Kingsgate Bay, and mapped from military aerial photographs taken in January 1941 [1], December 1941 [2] and April 1946 [3]. Features include gun emplacement pits, military buildings, Nissen huts, pillboxes, slit trenching and associated banking, several lengths of barbed wire and general areas of disturbance. The various parts of the site are linked via numerous roadways and paths. For more information regarding the features within this military site, see the child records.

The earliest photographs on which these features are first visible were taken in January 1941 [1], when a majority of the barbed wire was already laid down surrounding and enclosing many of the features. The next series of photographs, taken in December 1941 [2], show the development in the site and the increase in military defence features and barbed wire. By April 1946 [3] most of these features are gone, including all the barbed wire, except for the military base (MWX43001) that was only visible on this series and is gone by April 1950 [4].
